Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Met can be overwhelming. You can't expect to see anything close to everything in one trip. You should take your time and pick of the myriad of exhibits on display. Popular exhibits include the Temple of Dendur, the American Wing, the Costume Institute, and the collections of European Impressionist painting. Make your way up to the roof to see the rooftop sculpture garden and enjoy the excellent view of New York City. Having done that, take your stomach and rest your feet at the Met's rooftop snack bar.

Visit the Statue of Liberty

One of the best deals in New York City is the ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. You might have to wait awhile to get onboard but the scenic ride and interesting sights are a must see for all visitors. You can get the ferry at Castle Clinton in Battery Park or from Liberty State Park in New Jersey.

Visit Central Park

Central Park is where New Yorkers go to relax, unwind and have fun. The 850-acre park contains formal gardens, a lake for rowing, carriage roads, where you'll find bikers and skaters, not to mention several restaurants and food carts. During the summer, Central Park becomes home to the Summerstage program. The Metropolitan Opera provides open-air concerts. Shakespeare also makes an appearance in Central Park with their award-winning theater.

Visit Broadway and see a show with a discounted ticket

Just about everybody, locals and visitors alike, want to experience a Broadway play or musical. For a nominal fee, the TKTS booths provides half-price tickets on the day of the show. The main TKTS booth is located in Times Square. Its not hard to find, just look out for the line. Only cash and traveler's checks are accepted.
